Emergency 30 MW Diesel Power Plant

Emergency 30 MW Diesel Power Plant,Debrezeit,Ethiopia (2008-(2010)

  • In October 2008, Ethiopia began experiencing a serious power shortage following rains failure and delays in ongoing Hydro-­‐electric power projects and decided to implement a “short” term emergency power solution based on diesel powered generators on capacity rental basis.
  • EnComm pacirtipated global names such as Aggreko and APR Energy and was successfully awarded a contract to implement, on a fast-­‐ track basis, a 30MW diesel power plant on a turnkey supply, installation and commissioning on a capacity rental basis with full Operations & Maintenance in December 2008.
  • The contract was for an initial rental period of 6-­‐months, with option of extension to 18-­‐months. EnComm managed to successfully implement and commission the project on time in February 2009. EnComm operated the power-­‐plant smoothly supplying power to the Ethiopian National Grid on a 24-­‐hour basis until the end of the contract in July 2010.

Power transamission & distribution

Power transamission & distribution solution for Kenya Power and Rural Electrification Authotity(REA)

  • Since 2007, EnComm (formerly Energy & Communicatoins Limited) has been successfully delivering transmission and distribution  and grid solutions to both Kenya Power and the Rural Electrication Authority (REA) in Kenya.
  • Between 2007 – 2008, EnComm delivered and implemented a computerized meter reading & billing system to Kenya Power based on rugged handheld Intermec field computers for more than 1,500 Kenya Power meter reading staff spread across the country. EnComm also provided long-­‐term maintenance & support services for the system, which is still in use to date in 2013
  • Between 2008 and 2014, EnComm has supplied and delivered more than 7,000Km of conductors and cables, various insulators and line hardware to both Kenya Power and REA

Cane Testing Unit Project

The Cane Testing Units (CTU) project by AFA-Sugar Directorate.

  • Project by AFA-Sugar Directorate for the installation, commissioning and handover of 9 No cane testing units at various sugar mills in Kenya
    (comprising Chemelil, Muhoroni, Kibos, Mumias, Butali, West Kenya, Transmara, Sukari and Kwale International Sugar mills) were completed in July 2017 following commencement of the project in December 2014. Two additional cane testing units will be completed at Nzoia and Sony
    Sugar Companies tentatively by April 2021 and enrolled into the support program immediately upon commissioning.As part of the original project tender documents and submissions, the main contractor, EnComm
    Limited, was required to demonstrate capability to provide after sales maintenance and support for the cane testing equipment installed at the various cane testing units to ensure a high level of constant operational availability of the equipment.Encomm has already been providing annual support and maintenance services for the nine (9).
